Prayer and Bible Study

The Ascension Prayer Group meets on the second Monday of each month at 8 pm, at a variety of venues. If you would like to join them, you will be very welcome – ask for details or check the noticesheet. If you would like the group to offer special prayers, prayer cards are available in the pews and can be left in the box on the tract table.

New Daylight is the title of the Bible reading notes that several members of the congregation use daily, and find helpful. It costs £4.30 for four months. Val McFarlane would be very happy to show you the notes and order a set.

We meet for Bible Study, usually having a series for a few weeks, then a break, then another series. In Advent 2016 we studied “The Promise of His Glory”, looking at the readings we use every year for Nine Lessons and Carols. In Lent 2017 we were part of the Allestree Churches Together series of studies. Groups met at Clive and Gareth’s and at the Vicarage.

We used “Thy Kingdom Come”, the Archbishops’ Prayer Initiative at Pentecost 2017 to work on the prayer life of the church. Peter produced this leaflet – thy kingdom come – and again a year later.

This autumn we are studying The Bible Course. It is an eight session course produced by the Bible Society. “Whether you’re new to the Bible or want to go deeper, The Bible Course is for you. It shows how all the books, characters and events fit together to form one BIG story, from Genesis to Revelation.” We are running it at the Vicarage on alternate Mondays, starting at 7.30pm (so meeting on 12, 26 November – we will then have a break, and meet again on 7, 21 January and 4 February).
